Help Article (instructions, tips, ideas, etc…)

This Patriotic Ribbon Coloring Page is a quick and inexpensive activity for kids of all ages! Simply print on regular computer paper and have kids color the picture. To print: Open the free coloring page file offered on this page, and click the print button.

Ideas for this Patriotic Ribbon Coloring Page:

• For any age group, any activity: Print the coloring page on plain computer paper. Color the picture with crayons, markers, or colored pencils.

• At a party: Print as many coloring pages as you need so that each guest gets one coloring page. Have everyone sit at a table, and have a box full of crayons, markers, and colored pencils in the middle of the table. Have everyone start coloring the page. This is a fun way to color because each guest will have to ask questions like “Who has the red crayon?” and everyone will have fun passing around the colors.

• As an activity to occupy kids (of any age): This is a quiet activity to keeps kids occupied (on a rainy day, when home sick, or in the hospital). Print this page several times. With one coloring page, give out crayons. With another one, give out colored markers. With another one, give out colored pencils. You can do the same with glitter glue and stickers. The idea here is that it is the same picture, but it will end up looking different.

• To use as a greeting card or invitation: Print the coloring page. Color and decorate as desired. Use the back to write a greeting or an invitation. Fold like a business letter and insert into a regular business (#10) envelope.

• To use as a craft or gift: Print the coloring page on either plain white paper, or on light-colored card stock (which is a heavier paper that you can get in most any office supply store or discount stores like Wal-Mart). Color the page with crayons, markers, or colored pencils, and then decorate with glitter glue and stickers. Use pinking shears to cut a decorative edge. When the coloring page is dry, glue onto a larger piece of card stock, poster board, or clean cardboard. Use as refrigerator art or as a perfect gift for Grandma and Grandpa!

• Use as an exercise to learn colors: Print the coloring page. In pencil, write in color names in each coloring section. Have the child read the color, find that color crayon, and then color that area.

• Use as an exercise to learn numbers: Print the coloring page. In pencil, write a number in each coloring section. Now, write a list of numbers and the corresponding color, such as: 1 = Blue, 2 = Green, 3 = Red. Have the child read the number, match the number to the color, find that color crayon, and then color that area.

• Use as an exercise to learn words: Print the coloring page. In pencil, write a word in each coloring section. Now, write a list of numbers and the corresponding color, such as: Hat = Blue, Face = Tan, Shoe = Black. Have the child read the word, match the word to the color, find that color crayon, and then color that area. You can use this exercise to learn names of things in the picture, so this is a good exercise for easy pictures. You can also turn it into a “nonsense” game and make up silly words.

HELP

Question: If the free printable, craft, project, etc is offered in more than one file type, how do I know which one to pick?

Answer: Look at the end of the free printable file name to see what type it is.

• .pdf is Adobe Reader free printable.
• .jpg is a image or picture free printable.
• .zip is a zip file that has several free printables in one folder.

For a pdf free printable: Most computers come with an Adobe Reader free software and/or software in your web browser that will open pdf (Adobe Reader) file types.
Tip: If the file opens in your web page browser and you want it to open in Adobe Reader or other pdf software for more features, then right click on the free printable link, Save To your hard drive "Moms Break Folder" (or any other folder or directly to your desktop). Your saved pdf files will automatically open in Adobe Reader or your pdf software. Our pdf files require Adobe Reader 7 or above. If you do not have the free Adobe Reader software or need an upgrade to the newest version, visit www.adobe.com and download Adobe Reader free software.

For a zip free printable: Download, Unzip, and Open to find free printables. Extract to your "Moms Break Folder" (or other folder), then open the individual free printables of your choice.

For jpg free printable: Either print directly from your browser or right click and Save To your hard drive "Moms Break Folder" (or any other folder or directly to your desktop). Tip: Printing sizes may vary for jpg free printables due to your personal computer settings. This is why many files are offered as pdf because, in pdf, the printable will always print the right size.
